Sue Richardson Irvine grew up along the banks of Grand River in the ancestral home of one of the founding families of Plainfield Township. Her Grandfather, DeWitt Richardson, was born in the township, attended Plainfield District #1 School, and attended Ypsilanti Normal College, now Eastern Michigan University. He returned to Plainfield Township to raise his family and served on the local Board of Education 48 years. D.W. Richardson school was named for him.
Sue has served on the Plainfield Township Historical Advisory Committee since 1995 as Secretary, Treasurer, and President. She also serves on other museum boards and is Committee Chair and Manuscript Coordinator for Western Michigan Genealogical Society, printing and publishing their newsletters and quarterly magazine as well as publications of the Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society.
