Sharon Wells
Sharon Wells loves small town museums and their history. While living with her grandparents and mother when her father was in the service, she rode around the State of Michigan with her grandfather, one of the first tool and die makers in the state, while he delivered tools he made. They would often visit small museums, and this enhanced her love of museums.
Upon graduation from college, she enjoyed a career as a bank teller, a small business owner and a Home Bound teacher for newborns to 5 year olds until funding ended the program. She then went on to join Meijer Gardens, where she was on the design committee for the Children’s and Volunteer Gardens. She had fun working for years in the Children's Garden.
She continues her volunteer service at Feeding America West Michigan and is a founding member, with others, of the Alliance of Friends of Kent District Library and the Friends of the Plainfield Library. In 2017 she was honored as the Volunteer of the Year by the Kent District Library.
Sharon has been an early volunteer on behalf of the Hyser Rivers Museum. She has been a member of the Plainfield Charter Township Historical Preservation Advisory Committee for many, many years, serving in all leadership capacities as a member of the Board of Directors. She now enjoys serving as a Hyser Rivers Museum Docent as well as a member of the Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society Board of Directors. Sharon was appointed Museum Director for the Hyser Rivers Museum in 2023.
