Brian DeVries
Former Chair of the Plainfield Historical Preservation Advisory Committee, Brian DeVries was appointed to membership by the Plainfield Charter Township Board of Trustees in 2016.
Brian has been a life-long Kent County resident and built a home in Plainfield Township in 1987 - directly across the street from two of the Township's oldest homes. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Technological University followed by an engineering career, largely in the machine-tool business, for thirty-one years.
He embarked on a railroad career, as a clerk with CSX Transportation, for his last fourteen years of employment.
In retirement, he brings a passion for railroad history to his membership and has immersed himself in the history of Plainfield Village and its neighboring communities within the township.
In 2022, Brian appointed members of the Historical Society Transition Subcommittee to organize the formation of the non-profit independent Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society, slated to initiate later in the year. He served as an ex officio subcommittee member and liaison to township officials in the year-long process. He became a member of the Board of Directors of the Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society in 2022. He was appointed Membership Chair in February 2023.
