Our Vision

The Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society creates a greater understanding of the people and heritage of Plainfield Charter Township to inspire an enhanced appreciation and shared sense of community.

Our Future

Shape the Hyser Rivers Museum into a period-authentic representation of a country doctor’s 19th century life and Civil War experience:
•Restore Dr. Hyser’s surgery and parlor
•Displays of Captain Hyser’s Civil War service
•Create a unique and unforgettable visit

HELP EXPAND OUR COLLECTION INTO A NEW PLAINFIELD HISTORICAL MUSEUM

Our Story

In 1973, Plainfield Charter Township trustees formally appointed community members to the Plainfield Township Historical Preservation Advisory Commission to promote, collect and care for township historical materials, as well as serve as docents for public tours of what was christened the Hyser Rivers Museum.

In 2022, township officials retired the historical commission, and the new, independent non-profit Plainfield Grand Rogue Historical Society was born.
